In continuing with their pledge for more community initiatives, the City of Griffin Police Department will host a Women’s Self Defense class later this month. The class will be held at the Griffin Police Department on Saturday, September 17th from 9:00 am until 1:00 pm.

The purpose of the training is to provide self-confidence so that participants can successfully defend themselves given the remote chance that they are confronted with a situation. “We want to educate the public about personal safety and provide some basic defensive tactics training to the participants,” states Griffin Police Chief Mike Yates. “We will discuss how to avoid being selected as a target, and if you are what you should do.”

Space is limited to the first 20 participants so early registration is encouraged. To register, Click below. The suggested dress code is comfortable athletic as there will be light physical activity. We look forward to offering this and other classes to the public on various topics in the future.
