Photo Contest Now Open! Beginning this year, The City of Griffin Stormwater Management Division will host its first annual photo contest. With Griffin/Spalding County serving as home to many valuable water resources, the City of Griffin Stormwater Management Division seeks to promote awareness and good stewardship of these natural and beneficial features. Entries should focus on how water is important to you and is used in your everyday life. . Twelve winning entries will be chosen and each month one of them will be featured on the Stormwater Division’s social media outlets.  All twelve winning photographs will be physically displayed throughout the year in various locations and events around Griffin.  The photos will be accompanied by educational posts about the importance of clean water and conservation.  

Ideas for photos:

-natural and manmade water features/landscapes

-wildlife and water

-water recreation

-water conservation/wise uses of water

-stormwater/rain

-unfortunate/poor uses of water

-photos taken all months and all seasons of the year are highly encouraged

Contest Guidelines

-Age: Photographers of all ages and skill levels are welcome to submit photographs.

-Location: Photographs must be taken within the geographical boundaries of Griffin/Spalding County.

-Photographs: -Must have been taken since January 1, 2017

                        -No submittal of copyrighted material is allowed

                        -Should be easily viewable at 8.5x11 inches

-Photos that have been digitally altered beyond standard optimization (removal of dust, cropping, reasonable adjustments to exposure, color and contrast, etc.) will be disqualified.

-Each entry is subject to the free and unlicensed use by the City of Griffin Stormwater Management Division in the preparation of annual reports, educational handouts and materials, and website/social media outlets. See full Terms and Conditions.

-Submission:   

-Entries can be submitted at the bottom of this form or emailed to bmartin@cityofgriffin.com or saved to a CD/DVD, then sent by mail to Stormwater Management, 100 S Hill Street, PO Box T Griffin, GA 30224.

-Images must be submitted digitally. No printed photos will be accepted

-Save photographs with the following naming scheme: last name_first name_title of photograph. Example: Smith_John_Griffin Stream

-All entries and accompanying release forms must be received by close of business Friday April 20, 2018.

Judging       

Submissions will be judged based on the following criteria:

-Relevance of subject and quality of composition

-Originality of photo

-Ability to convey the importance of water to you or your community

Prizes

- 12 winners will be chosen and receive a prize bag with gift card and other goodies.

-One of the top 12 winner’s photographs will be featured each month in the Stormwater Division’s social media outlets as an educational awareness campaign as well as physically displayed throughout the year in various locations and events around Griffin.

Contest Terms and Conditions

Winners will be notified via email by the week of April 23, 2018. Failure to reach winners with the information provided in the entry form may result in the disqualification, and selection of a substitute winner. The top twelve photographs chosen may be featured on social media, City of Griffin Website, and various other promotional and educational materials.

By submitting the entry form, the participant assigns the City of Griffin Stormwater Management Division the perpetual, royalty-free and irrevocable right and license to use, publish, print, copy, promote, distribute, alter, adapt, modify, edit, reproduce, or otherwise display entries in any way it sees fit without limitation or compensation to entrants for the purpose of public information and education. All informational and educational materials are provided to the City of Griffin customers free of charge.
